History of the Choir

What is a Heralder, anyway?  A herald is a person (or an angel!) who announces important news or messages. Our singers are Heralders!

Home schooled children have been “heralding” since 1995! Their message: The goodness of the Lord never fails because He is our Shepherd. “The Lord is My Shepherd” has been the choir’s “signature” piece from the very beginning.

It all began with the vision of Lorraine Dowdle, a mom, who wanted to give home schooled children a quality choral experience and an opportunity to “herald” their message into the community. She chose “Miss Debby” to direct the choir after hearing her speak at a Home School Convention on the Child Voice and Singing, and Debby has been directing the choir ever since!
